A major cause of “denture breath” and sore spots in traditional dentures is the growth of bacteria that finds its way on and into dentures due in large part to the porosity of the acrylic denture material. AvaDent’s patented process creates a denture that is significantly more dense than traditional dentures and is therefore highly resistant to the buildup of bacteria.
Here is a picture from an independent study conducted by the Department of Restorative Dentistry, The State University of New York at Buffalo. The block on the left is denture acrylic that has been produced in the traditional way, while the denture acrylic on the right has been produced using AvaDent’s patented process. As you can see there is significant bacteria growth on the left and nearly none on the AvaDent Sample.
